The Opening of New Factories

Several changes took place after I became involved in the biscuit industry.

I have already mentioned on an earlier page that Hays Biscuits had been sold to Westons of the UK and moved to Springs in the Transvaal.  New factories were opened as shown below and this is dealt with in more detail on the pages following.

1967	Bakers Ltd established a factory at Isando in the Transvaal.
1971	(Approximate year)   Enterprise Bakeries  (Pty) Ltd, Cape Town, established a biscuit operation.
1972	Bakers Ltd built a new factory at Westmead in Pinetown and moved their Brickhill Road, Durban, operation to that site.
1976	Fatti's & Moni's started biscuits as Fino Food Industries at Isando, Transvaal.
1977	Bakers Ltd built a small factory, Lexim (Pty) Ltd, at Butterworth, Transkei.
