Origin of Names and Packs

In the following pages I have explained the origins of the various names used for the different lines of biscuits and in some instances have given the reasons why a particular line was introduced or “invented”, as well as other information of interest.

It will be noticed that most of the popular lines are Bakers Ltd lines.  There were a few Pyotts lines.  The other biscuit manufacturers did not have any particular biscuit with a special name or which sold in any quantity, apart from generic lines such as Marie, Cream Cracker, Ginger Nuts and Lemon Creams.

The biscuit names are in alphabetical order whilst the last two headings deal with Trademarks.
