Origin of Names and Packs
Topper
Having had some success with “Tanner” in creating a smaller pack of biscuits I thought I would try the same with a creamed biscuit.
Here again, it was a question of getting the right dimensions to appeal as value for money. I achieved this by choosing an oblong shaped biscuit. Instead of the biscuits being rowed up on edge, they were placed in four piles of two length-wise. A thick cream was inserted – cream was quite cheap compared to biscuit – and this gave a reasonable pack.
Again, I was looking for a name we could register and chose “Topper” hoping it would have a connotation of being something good. It was also a successful line. Pyotts brought out a competitive line and called theirs “Winna Creams”.
